Replication¶
13 tools. Back to the index.
flush_net_dormancy¶
Destructive.
Call AActor::FlushNetDormancy, which makes a dormant replicated actor send its state again, on an editor-world actor found by label. The editor world has no net driver, so nothing is sent and PIE is never reached, but DORM_Initial still becomes DORM_DormantAll. flushed is always true.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
actor_name |
string | yes | Label of the actor in the editor world (matched against labels, not object names); first match. |
Returns: { actor_name, flushed }
force_net_update¶
Destructive.
Call AActor::ForceNetUpdate on an editor-world actor found by label, which asks a net driver to replicate it on its next update. The editor world has no net driver, so nothing is sent and a PIE session is never reached; forced is always true.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
actor_name |
string | yes | Label of the actor in the editor world (matched against labels, not object names); first match. |
Returns: { actor_name, forced }
get_actor_net_cull_distance¶
Read-only.
Read an actor's net cull distance (read-side of set_actor_net_cull_distance). It returns BOTH forms: net_cull_distance_squared, which is how UE 5.8 actually stores it (AActor::NetCullDistanceSquared), and net_cull_distance_cm, the plain linear distance -- so you never have to remember which one you are looking at.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
actor_name |
string | yes | Engine name of the actor |
Returns: { actor_name, net_cull_distance_squared, net_cull_distance_cm }
get_actor_net_update_frequency¶
Read-only.
Read NetUpdateFrequency and MinNetUpdateFrequency (Hz) of an editor-world actor found by label. Read-only; reads the placed instance, not a PIE copy. The reply actor_name is the engine object name. Writer: set_actor_net_update_frequency.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
actor_name |
string | yes | Label of the actor in the editor world (matched against labels, not engine object names, despite the parameter name); first match. |
Returns: { actor_name, net_update_frequency, min_net_update_frequency }
get_actor_replication_info¶
Read-only.
Read replication settings for an editor-world actor (replicates, replicate_movement via reflection, frequencies, dormancy, role).
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
actor_label |
string | yes | Label of the actor in the editor world. |
Returns: { actor_label: string, class_name: string, replicates: bool, replicate_movement: bool, net_update_frequency: float, min_net_update_frequency: float, net_cull_distance_squared: float, net_dormancy: string, role: string }
get_net_priority¶
Read-only.
Read NetPriority, the relative replication priority when bandwidth is short, of an editor-world actor found by label. Read-only; reads the placed instance, not a PIE copy. Engine defaults: 1.0 for actors, 3.0 for pawns. Writer: set_net_priority.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
actor_name |
string | yes | Label of the actor in the editor world (matched against labels, not object names); first match. |
Returns: { actor_name, priority }
get_net_role¶
Read-only.
Read LocalRole and RemoteRole (number and ENetRole name) of an editor-world actor found by label. Read-only; it reads the placed instance, not a PIE server or client copy, so it shows the authoring-time roles.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
actor_name |
string | yes | Label of the actor in the editor world (matched against labels, not object names); first match. |
Returns: { actor_name, local_role, local_role_name, remote_role, remote_role_name }
set_actor_net_cull_distance¶
Destructive, idempotent.
Set AActor::NetCullDistanceSquared for an editor-world actor (accepts the linear distance in cm).
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
actor_label |
string | yes | Label of the actor in the editor world. |
distance |
number | yes | Net cull distance in cm (will be squared before being set). |
Returns: { actor_label: string, distance: float }
set_actor_net_dormancy¶
Destructive, idempotent.
Set NetDormancy on an editor-world actor found by label (AActor::SetNetDormancy). Only that placed instance changes; it is not marked dirty and nothing is saved. dormancy in the reply is the parsed enum name (e.g. DORM_DormantAll), not a read-back: use get_actor_replication_info.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
actor_label |
string | yes | Label of the actor in the editor world. |
dormancy |
string | yes | ENetDormancy value, case-insensitive, with or without a DORM_ or DORMANT_ prefix: Never, Awake, DormantAll (or All), DormantPartial (or Partial), Initial; e.g. "DORM_DormantAll". |
Returns: { actor_label: string, dormancy: string }
set_actor_net_update_frequency¶
Destructive, idempotent.
Set AActor::NetUpdateFrequency (and optionally MinNetUpdateFrequency) for an editor-world actor.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
actor_label |
string | yes | Label of the actor in the editor world. |
frequency |
number | yes | Net update frequency in Hz. |
min_frequency |
number | no | Optional minimum net update frequency in Hz. |
Returns: { actor_label: string, frequency: float, min_frequency: float }
set_actor_replicate_movement¶
Destructive, idempotent.
Set bReplicateMovement on an editor-world actor found by label (AActor::SetReplicateMovement). Only that placed instance changes, not its class defaults; it is not marked dirty and nothing is saved. replicate_movement echoes the request; read back with get_actor_replication_info.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
actor_label |
string | yes | Label of the actor in the editor world. |
replicate_movement |
boolean | yes | true replicates the movement of the actor, false stops it (new value of bReplicateMovement). |
Returns: { actor_label: string, replicate_movement: bool }
set_actor_replicates¶
Destructive, idempotent.
Set bReplicates on an editor-world actor found by label (AActor::SetReplicates, which also sets RemoteRole). Only that placed instance changes, not its class defaults; it is not marked dirty and nothing is saved. replicates echoes the request; read back with get_actor_replication_info.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
actor_label |
string | yes | Label of the actor in the editor world. |
replicates |
boolean | yes | true makes the actor replicate, false stops it (new value of bReplicates). |
Returns: { actor_label: string, replicates: bool }
set_net_priority¶
Destructive, idempotent.
Write NetPriority, the relative replication priority when bandwidth is short, on an editor-world actor found by label. Only that placed instance changes; it is not marked dirty or saved. priority is read back after the write. Engine defaults: 1.0 for actors, 3.0 for pawns.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
actor_name |
string | yes | Label of the actor in the editor world (matched against labels, not object names); first match. |
priority |
number | yes | New NetPriority as a float, written as given with no clamping; higher makes the actor more likely to replicate when bandwidth is saturated. |
Returns: { actor_name, priority }
